The River Kidz were super busy this weekend (to say the least)

Saturday was Party in the Park and was it a fabulous Party in the park too.
The River Kidz painted Solidarity fish armbands for themselves and 100 of them to take to Tallahassee to the Clean Water Rally set for Feb. 18th. We also sold lemonade with the proceeds going to the Conservation Alliance of St. Lucie County. We were able to raise $50 for the conservation. River Kidz of all ages were present at our booth. Party in the park is always a wonderful event. Many of the River Momz and Dadz will bring their Kidz and let them run exploring the many wonderful booths that may be present.

It was a huge success, we signed up many new families to the River Kidz which is always exciting.

Sunday was our monthly River Kidz meeting. We had lots of young ones this go around present. This months meeting revolved around the exciting new projects the Kidz were asked to participate in, not one but TWO community gardens. One of them will be in Port St. Lucie and the other in Ft. Pierce.  We knew it was only appropriate to invite Master Naturalist Eva Ries and Master Gardener Jeanne Reid. We talked about everything from recyclable pots, native plants, pet worms and the benefits to our gardens and more importantly the importance of alternative solutions to harmful chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizer. We closed the meeting out with a show and tell of different native plants that can be found at the Manatee Center and a fun seed swap.

This weekend proved to be a wonderful one and another reminder just how fabulous our community really is.

Stay tuned for a River Kidz Update this weekend regarding some EXCITING news and events taking place.....
