River Kidz Seed Swap
February 8, 2015
1pm - 3pm
Manatee Observation & Education Center
FREE * FREE * FREE
The River Kidz goal this year is create their own community garden. Before we can do that, we know its important to teach the local Kidz the importance of sustainable and responsible gardening.
We're going to talk about the importance of native plants, what we can use outside of harmful chemicals, our visions and what we want to grow and what we can grow in our community garden.
All you need to bring is seeds and brief information on your seeds. We are recommending heirloom seeds. What are Heirloom Seeds? They are open-pollinated -- meaning that unlike hybrids, seeds you collect from one year will produce plants with most of the characteristics of the parent plant.
We are VERY excited about this event and hope to engage lots of kids. We are going to need a lot of help with our gardening. We are excited to show you how much fun and rewarding gardening can be, all while doing it safely when it comes to our water shed.
